Which 2027 Equinox trim should you buy?

Take the LT if you want heated seats, a heated steering wheel and the full-size screen without paying for appearance equipment. Take the RS if you want the blacked-out look and the flat-bottom wheel. Take the ACTIV if you actually drive on gravel, because it is the one with all-terrain tires.

Our Equinox trim comparison walks the same three trims in more depth, and if you are wondering how the model holds up over time, we wrote a straight answer on Equinox reliability.

Does the 2027 Equinox have three rows?

No. The 2027 Equinox is a two-row SUV that seats five, and Chevrolet states that plainly. If you need a third row, the Traverse is the next size up in the same showroom and seats seven or eight. People cross-shop these two constantly, and the row count is usually what settles it.

This is the single most common question we get about the Equinox, and the answer has not changed. Five seats, two rows, a flat load floor behind them.

What the Equinox gives you in exchange is a vehicle that fits a normal parking space outside the Cross Creek Mall and does not feel like work on the Bragg Blvd stop-and-go. A Traverse does not do either of those things as easily.

If the third row is non-negotiable, go look at the Traverse instead and save yourself a trip. We would rather point you one model up than sell you something that will annoy you in six months.

Two rows, five belts. The rear bench is where the Equinox spends most of its life in this market, carrying car seats to Fort Bragg child development centers.

What is the 2027 Equinox like inside?

Every 2027 Equinox gets an 11.3-inch diagonal touchscreen, and the LT adds heated front seats and a heated steering wheel as standard equipment. The RS brings a flat-bottom steering wheel. The ACTIV swaps in Evotex and sueded microfiber seating surfaces for its outdoor-leaning character.

The screen is the thing people notice first. At 11.3 inches it is the same size across all three trims, so you are not buying up to get the good display.

Heated seats and a heated steering wheel standard on the base LT is worth calling out. Fayetteville does not get Midwest winters, but a 30-degree January morning on the All American Freeway is a different drive with a warm wheel.

A Drive Mode Selector comes standard on every Equinox, which changes how the vehicle responds to conditions. It is the kind of feature that sounds like a footnote and then earns itself the first time you are on a wet secondary road.

The flat-bottom steering wheel marks this out as an RS. The 11.3-inch screen beside it is standard on the LT and ACTIV too.

How much can the 2027 Equinox tow?

When properly equipped, the 2027 Chevy Equinox tows up to 1,500 lbs. That is a small utility trailer, a light trailer with two kayaks, or a compact teardrop camper. It is not a boat trailer and it is not a car hauler, and anyone who tells you otherwise is costing you a transmission.

On fuel economy and horsepower: Chevrolet has not published confirmed EPA mileage or a horsepower rating for the 2027 Equinox on its own model page, so we are not going to print a number we cannot stand behind. Ask us when you come in and we will pull the window sticker on the actual vehicle, which is the only figure that applies to the car you would actually drive home.

Is the Equinox EV the same vehicle?

No, and this trips people up regularly. The Equinox and the Equinox EV share a name and nothing else that matters. Everything on this page describes the gas Equinox with the 1.5L Turbo. The Equinox EV is a separate all-electric vehicle with its own range, charging and equipment.

If you came here looking for electric range figures, you are on the wrong page, and we would rather say so than let you work it out three paragraphs later. Ask us about the EV directly and we will put you with someone who talks about charging all day.

For everyone else: browse the current Equinox inventory, read the rest of the lineup in our Chevy research hub, or start financing online before you drive over.

Frequently asked questions about the 2027 Chevy Equinox

Does the 2027 Chevy Equinox have 3 rows?

No. The 2027 Chevy Equinox is a two-row SUV that seats 5. If you need a third row from Chevrolet, the Traverse is the next size up and seats seven or eight. We stock both at Powers Swain on Bragg Blvd.

What trims does the 2027 Equinox come in?

Three: LT, RS and ACTIV. The LT is the well-equipped base, the RS is the blacked-out street version with a flat-bottom steering wheel, and the ACTIV is the outdoor-leaning one with all-terrain tires and a uniquely-tuned suspension.

How much can the 2027 Chevy Equinox tow?

When properly equipped, the 2027 Chevy Equinox can tow up to 1,500 lbs. That covers a small utility trailer, a pair of kayaks on a light trailer, or a compact camper. It does not cover a boat of any real size.

What engine is in the 2027 Equinox?

A 1.5L Turbo four-cylinder, paired with a standard Drive Mode Selector that lets you change how the vehicle responds to conditions. It is the only engine in the gas Equinox lineup across all three trims.

Is the Equinox EV the same as the Equinox?

No. They are two separate vehicles that share a name. The Equinox on this page is the gas model with the 1.5L Turbo. The Equinox EV is a different all-electric vehicle with its own range, charging and pricing. Do not use the specs on this page for the EV.

What is the difference between the Equinox RS and ACTIV?

Character, not capability. The RS goes for street styling with black mirrors, moldings, emblems and badging, 19-inch standard wheels and a flat-bottom steering wheel. The ACTIV goes outdoors, with all-terrain tires, a uniquely-tuned suspension and Evotex and sueded microfiber seats.
